Assembly:
Took 1-2 hours, I am not very good at assembly. Make sure both the front/rear stabilizers are in place before you attempt to screw them in.
Bike Size/Looks/Stability:
Some of the Air Bikes are very large and take up too much space. The AD7 is the size it needs to be and nothing more. People love to say the Assault, ECHO bikes are built like tanks, I did not want to ride a tank! The AD7 is very sturdy and does not wobble at all during my hardest sprints. Has adjustable stabilizer feet for uneven floors if needed (I did not). Looks very nice in multiple rooms / environments, even the very posh "Peleton" commercial type homes. Does not look like a bike that matches the decor of a warehouse gym.
Work Out:
Very easy to get my heart rate up on this bike. I also have a smart trainer which uses just my legs and is magnetic resistance, no comparison the AD7 is much more intense! Great for sprint intervals in that it gets my heart rate way up but is not over taxing or straining my leg or arm muscles.
Bike Arms/ Rehab:
The multiple arm positions is great, I did not see this available on the other bikes or did I have on my previous bike. Lower, upper and I can grip on the sides. I was in bad accident 6 months ago and broke my shoulder blade, leg and lower(lumbar) spine, the multiple arm positions (lower) greatly improved comfort and improved my rehab. I am able to get a full body work out with no strain on any muscles, tendons or joints. I can ride for an hour at any intensity and it is very smooth and easy on the body (no pain). Have managed to do 30-45 minutes a day no problem in the 4-6 months since my accident.
Belt Drive:
The belt drive system is great in that it is quiet, smooth, better power transfer and less maintenance than the chain drive bikes I have used.
Seat:
Very adjustable for height, forward/backward. Seat is comfortable can easily do an hour ride with non-padded shorts with no discomfort.
Noise:
Belt drive is very smooth and quiet. The wind noise is not too loud, especially when riding at a steady tempo. I wear ear buds for music while riding and I can easily hear the music at normal volume levels and hardly notice/hear the air noise.
Air Blowing:
My AD7 has a wind shield which looks like it can be removed if one wanted. There is some air that blows on my hands which I like, if I am getting very sweaty it prevents my hands from doing so and my grip on the bike arms is not impacted.
Bike Computer/Console:
Does not have a back light which I wish it had. I bought a clip on light/book reader that I use. Is easy to get information and track your workouts in process. Does not have any memory or logging once a new work out is started. Heart rate monitor works with a non-coded strap, I found 2 on Amazon, be sure to get the one that allows you to replace the battery.
Safety:
No moving parts etc. for a cat (I have cats) etc. to get hurt by. Easy to get on and off the bike, there is a step if needed to help get on/off bike.
Mobility:
Has wheels and I am able to move around my gym without any issue
Pedals:
They really grip, there are no clips etc. but my feet stay very planted/still. Still rehabilitating from my injury so I like that my foot is able to move if needed.
I had used a Schwinn Airdyne at the Y occasionally and always liked it. I had looked for one on our local Craigslist and never saw anything I wanted. So when this came up on the Deal of the Day, I did some quick online research and snapped it up immediately. The shipping box was somewhat beat up and had a puncture in it, and it does weigh around 120 pounds in the box, so get some help bringing it into the house if you cannot handle that weight safely by yourself. I opened the box and inspected and laid out all the parts downstairs and brought them upstairs to my exercise room for assembly. The frame assembly is the largest and heaviest piece, weighing around 80 pounds or so. I thought the assembly instructions were simple and the assembly hardware and tools secured to a card was a great idea. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble, but then again, I do all of my own bicycle mechanic work. I do recommend taking the bicycle saddle clamp mechanism out of the saddle and putting the saddle post bracket separately onto the knurled saddle post. I used a small hammer to tap it down so that it was fully seated onto the knurled saddle post. I could not get the saddle fully seated while trying to mount the saddle with the clamp still on the saddle. The saddle does not slip once the bracket is fully mounted and the screw and bolt is tightened.
The electronic monitor did get somewhat crushed during shipping and did not work. I have been waiting a little over a week and have not yet heard from Schwinn regarding a replacement. All other parts arrived in perfect condition.
The Airdyne AD6 is a joy to use. It is built like a tank, is quiet and is rock solid during use. I use a Polar heart rate monitor and have no problem in getting my heart rate into the target zone. From an exercise standpoint, it is a bonus to be able to work your upper body with the handlebars which helps with my Tabata intervals. This feature was why I bought the Airdyne over a spinning bicycle. It would be great if there was a way to mount one of my road saddles on the Airdyne.
I think the Airdyne AD6 will meet my requirements for cardio and general fitness, and will keep my legs in reasonable bicycling shape during the winter months. I would recommend this model.
Edit on 1/19/13: I had to call Schwinn about the damaged electronic monitor since they were not returning my additional emails asking about the monitor replacement. It turns out that for warranty support, you have to first register your bike with them. Completing the electronic registration process online is insufficient. They also require a copy of your receipt or invoice. The website does not mention this nor did their initial email to me. I took a screenshot of my Amazon invoice and emailed it to them. This satisfied them, but if I had not called to ask why my emails were not being returned, I would have waited forever, apparently.
Also, the Serfas bicycle saddle pad (exerciser), sold elsewhere on this site, does fit the Airdyne AD6 saddle.
Finally, the bike continues to be a joy to use and is as solid as a rock

The bad news first...
You do need two people to assemble it. It says so in the manual, and you should listen to it. I assembled it all on my own, and my back is sore now. The largest piece in the box weighs about 40 Kg.
It raises a lot of dust in the air. You have to keep the home very clean to use this thing. If you've got carpet, it's probably best to avoid air bikes. Luckily, I got rid of all carpet long ago so it's not a big problem.
At high speeds there's a lot of air moving around and that makes some noise.
The air flow can scare the pets at first. My cat ran to the other end of the apartment and hid under the covers.
The seat is not very comfortable.
The good news...
I was able to assemble it all by myself in less than an hour, and it doesn't have any of the issues reported in other reviews. No clicks or loose parts. It seems to work perfectly.
It even has the air diverter that other air bikes lack. That is, I don't get a lot of air in my face while using it.
It's very quiet in normal use.
It looks very nice.
The seat can be adjusted in two directions (front/back and up/down). This makes it suitable for pretty much any user height IMO.
My cat is smart, he's not hiding anymore :)
