    Could be better
First of all, let me say that if this globe was $30-$40 it would get 5 stars, but for over $100 it just doesn't do enough.I have a very smart homeschooled 4.5 year old and a 2 year old who I have been trying to teach geography to. We have several world maps and the Timeline geography game and we regularly send/receive things from penpals around the world. We also eat unique foods from various countries each week and talk about the country that each food comes from. I needed a way to show the 3 dimensional nature of the world to my kids, so I ordered this globe. For the price, it is a bit dissapointing. The quality of the globe itself is good. It is sturdy plastic, with vibrant glossy colors. It is lightweight enough for my 4.5 year old to move it by herself, and the globe spins freely on both axis, which is nice. The pen stores nicely in the base and using everything was straight forward and intuitive. My daughter has no problems using it by herself. The pen (where the speaker is) has several volume levels, which is also nice, although a headphone option is not present and would have been nice. The variety of information types and quizzes is ok, but the information given for certain areas is odd. Sometimes it makes sense, and sometimes it doesn't. If you click on the picture of the puffin, you get information on the Loch Ness monster. (You can find out about the puffins in Wales if you click on London... which doesn't make much sense). If you click on the hedgehog like creature (or any country near the hedgehog) you will not get information on hedgehogs. This frustrated my children. The information on some animals is more thorough than on others. For instance it tells you how big the Pacific giant octopus is, and how it can change colors, but for puffins it just says that they have a triangular colorful beak. The country information is slightly better. The distances between cities are interesting, but they are not particularly relatable. (For instance, according to the globe, it takes 2 hours to fly from Portland OR to San Francisco CA, which is fine but not particularly interesting or relatable to children who have never flown). The narration is done by Bindi Irwin (Steve Irwin's daughter) and some unknown male narator. It is clear and easy to understand, although my daughter did wonder why it switched between voices seemingly at random, and my husband did have a little trouble understanding Bindi's Australian pronunciations at times.Over all, it is a neat toy that is educational, but for the price of a tablet I was expecting more. More information, more variety, and more accuracy. (It also would have been nice if they included batteries for the pen). Maybe future versions or a pen update could solve this? I dunno. Overall I wanted to like it more than I do. That being said, it's certainly a pretty globe, and the kids do love it, so points for that!
