Function: It has six functions: soup, meat, beam, poultry, rice, multigrain and porridge. As the time as you buy it, you also be provided multiple way to live. I have tried to all these functions and this pot performance good. It has smart application and you even can control it with mobile app. Unlike traditional high-pressure pot, Instant Pot is safe and everyone able to use it even if you do not know cookingare not a good cooker before. I was only able to cook instant noodles before buying it and I planned to regard it as a rice cooker at the time I bought. I started to love cook after owning this pot because it makes everything I poured delicious with its own smart application. It bring me big achievement. It does not have function of cooking yoghurt compared to 7-in-1 version, while actually I have not notice that because the current functions are enough for daily needs.
Quality: This pot is heavy with precious structure. I bought it with Thanksgiving deal and it worth every penny you pay even if buy with full price. I bought it with three-year warrantee but have not use yet. 6 Quart capacity also satisfied most family needs. I used this pot to cook during party and it is enough to cook for ten persons. It have not occur the application errors and it always finish work pretty well.
Convenience: I bought this tool due to hearing about its convenience. My girlfriend and I use this pot about one time per day. It may cost take two to three hours if you want to eat home-make borsch but hungry at same time, so you give it up due to hunger. But Instant Pot gives you option to cook within half an hour. I also have experience of cooking ten-cup rice due to party, and it was done cooking about fifteen minutes. It has bigger capacity to cook with shorter time. and does not much higher than the price with similar capacity rice cooker. I quite more expensive than rice cooker or similar pressure cooker, while it provides more functional and It it worth buying and you can enjoy convenience brought by technology.
I recommend this product to anyone wants to cook by themselves. It almost does not have disadvantage except its price. You can use this product to save time and enjoy home-make food as you want.
1. One thing to keep in mind that while the cooking time with this is much shorter than regular cooking methods, you need to factor in the time it takes to boil the water and create enough steam to reach the right pressure. For better results, you want it to sit a little after cooking to get better results, which also takes some time. So it is not really "instant" but it does make many cooking jobs much faster.
2. I am Chinese and my wife is Japanese so we have dedicated cookwares to make rice, and we know how a pot of good rice looks and tastes like. If you don't have these, I can tell you the rice made by the Instant Pot is as good if not better than what we usually get. You add rice and water to the pot in a 1:1 ratio (eg., 1 cup each), select "Rice" and the actual cooking time is 10 min. You could manually release the pressure immediately or let it sit for 5-10 min, depending on whether you like the rice to have some texture or softer.
3. While you can use it to steam, but the food, whether it is vegetable or sausage, can be soggy. For vegetables they also turn yellow. So while Instant pot can steam (and of course it can), a dedicated steamer may work better for some of the food.
4. I personally think this is best for making stew and soup that usually takes hours and this can cut down the cooking time to be around 30 min. Since you can also sauté in it, you do not need to sauté in another device and then transfer it to the pot for making soup, as two steps can be combined in the same device.
I've had this for over a year and a half now with lots of use and it's still working perfectly. And also I'm no longer afraid of it :)
*************
Last month my husband threw me on the Instant Pot bandwagon by purchasing this one and I don't plan on getting off anytime soon. I have three young boys who demand all my attention all day. It's been so hard getting dinner on the table and the idea of cooking is just daunting. I hate cooking. I hate figuring out what to cook. I hate not having food readily available. ENTER: the Instant Pot. It hasn't solved all of my life's problems, but it has made the dinner situation a lot better. At least having a meat cooked (in a fraction of the time, without having to tend it) has made life a little easier.
At first I was pretty scared of the thing. I was eager to use it, but heard the horror story about the mom who burned her daughter when she opened it. This resulted in a lot of people being scared of the machine, myself included. After researching her story (as to not make the same mistake), I learned that she had disregarded the instructions and tried to force the Instant Pot open. THAT IS A HUGE "NO NO." If you have never read the instructions on anything, READ THESE! Do the step by step stuff it walks you through. Seriously, the first time the steam hole made a whistling noise I jumped (maybe I screamed, maybe I didn't), and I was ready to throw in the towel. I wasn't in the mood to blow my house up that day. BUT, I followed the directions and put my faith in the technical writers of Instant Pot. And they guided me through with skill and ease. I made chicken that night. And it was good.
BONUS:
If you really want to impress yourself, or your spouse, or significant other, or friends, or whatever, make some boiled eggs in your Instant Pot! If you do nothing else in your life, make eggs. Throw in some eggs, a cup of water, set the time for five minutes, then let it sit for another five minutes. Then dunk them in ice water. And that's it. You have perfect eggs which are EASY to peel. That's right, every time. The shells come off like magic. Egg magic. The most delicious easy-to-peel eggs of my life. They may tell you to buy extra gadgets for the eggs in order to boil them, but I have no problems cooking a dozen eggs at a time all on the provided rack. They touch each other, but I'm sure it makes them happy to be so close? I dunno. But they have never cracked on me. They just come out perfect each time.
ADDED BONUS:
ok, I've had this puppy for a while now and my favorite thing to make with it now is BONE BROTH! DELICIOUS PURE WONDERFUL BONE BROTH! Back when I was pregnant with #2 I made bone broth in a slow cooker, one of those all day simmering events. Problem was I wanted to throw up ALL DAY. It ruined my life. I was destitute. I exaggerate. But then I realized that it's been a while and I may as well try again. Oh, what's that, instapot? You can do it in a fraction of the time? Less than two hours???! HALLELUJAH. I'm back in business and feeling so thrifty with my homemade bone broth. And ya, I think it tastes WAY better than the store bought stuff.

You have to know me well to know that I normally don't buy products when they first come out. Basically, I won't pay the high price for something new and normally wait until the price drops as new models go on the market (my kids did not inherit this gene! LOL) Then I research the heck out of what I am thinking of buying to make sure I get the best version of the product for us.
So, after many hours of intensive review reading and searches for recipes and options to make sure it would suit our laid back lifestyle, I finally caved and bought an InstantPot. BEST. INVESTMENT. EVER.
It's so easy to use! If you're not familiar, it is an electric pressure cooker - much safer than the older 'on top of the stove' version (I'm not a bit nervous around it). Surprisingly, I am actually having fun with it, even though I thought it would be a chore to learn new tricks at my age! LOL
Last night we were destined to have a late supper (after 7 before I realized I had no leftovers to warm up! lol) Normally, on nights like that, we would just open a can of something or get take out. Not last night. 😲 Willie was out in the garage working on the car and would not be in for awhile (making supper even later), so I thought I'd play with the new cooker since I had the time to kill. I took a whole frozen chicken out of the freezer, put it in the InstantPot with a cup of water as directed, and sprinkled it with my regular go to spice - Montreal Chicken. I set it to cook for 60 minutes, tossed a couple of potatoes into the oven to bake, and just walked away. In approximately 1-1/2 hours, we sat down to a meal of wonderfully moist chicken (which was literally falling off the bone), baked potatoes, gravy (made right in the same pot) and veggies 😋- and remember - that chicken was frozen as hard as a rock when I put it in the pot! I'm still amazed. And clean-up is so simple because I can toss the liner pot right into the dishwasher (it's stainless steel). Best part??? I don't have to figure out what to cook tonight because we have leftovers! 😁
Like everyone, we have a lot of favourite go-to meals and I was really concerned that I wouldn't get much use out of the Instantpot because we'd still want to have those favourites. I'm happy to report that, so far at least, it has been easy to convert the ones I've tried and with very little tweaking. Mind you, I won't be able to cook everything in this pot, but variety is still the spice of life, right? 🤪 Another bonus? It will be a wonderful asset for cooking on hot summer nights and my kitchen will stay cook because, unlike the oven, there is no heat that escapes. 😈
There are a number of different versions of the InstantPot, but this (LUX model) is the one that I ordered through Amazon online (the price was right that day and I see it is on sale again). You can also buy them in town at the big box stores. Some make yogurt (DUO model), but I prefer to just buy that off the shelf, so it wasn't important to me. Other than that, they are all basically the same when it comes to cooking a meal, at least. Apparently I will also be able to cook desserts in this magnificent creature, but one hurdle at a time. 😏
