What is a callus? A callus is caused by the buildup of hard, dead skin over an area of pressure or bony prominence. The hard skin is composed of skin cells called keratinocytes, which are present throughout the entire epidermal layer of skin. Do I have a callus? You may have a callus if you have a large area of thickened skin, especially on the heel, ball of foot or sides of the foot. What causes a callus? Calluses on the feet are often caused by friction and pressure from footwear as well as abnormal patterns of walking or repetitive activities (such as in sports).
Help Prevent Calluses By:
- Wearing properly fitted shoes with adequate arch support
- Rotating your shoes on a daily basis
- Reducing pressure and friction from footwear

*update - it worked for a bit but it started hurting again. I think perhaps because my callus was a tad large than the medicated disc? So it wasn't entirely removed. Says you can use again but I tried another method. A 40% urea cream and after a week that had softened it and it's not painful now.
I developed a blister from dance back in 2016. Having had minor blisters before, I paid it no mind. It eventually became calloused. Being a stubborn knuckle dragger, I again paid it no mind. It would hurt periodically, but nothing too serious, at least I thought.
During a routine physical, the doc noticed some irregularities in my stance. Subconsciously, I actually changed the gait of my walk and run to accommodate the callous. I guess it was causing more issues than I thought. In 2019, I began to notice sharp pains in my foot, which forced me to walk on the outer edge of my foot, which again, caused more issues. I went to a podiatrist and was told the callous was too far developed to deal with by normal means, and that it had split open to the point of bleeding, which was the cause of the sharp pain. Their option was surgery to remove it, and stitches to close the wound. While mulling over my options, the thing that gets people sick happened and put a halt on all medical procedures for a little over a year.
Entering 2021, I had to go back through the gambit of being re-evaluated for surgery and was put on a waiting list. During that time, I happened upon this product.
I got it on a Friday. Used the first pad that night, and took it off Sunday Night. By Tuesday night, I noticed slight peeling off the callous. So, I waited it out. The following Friday, there was no more peeling but there was still the callous. So, I used another pad with the same 2 days on, three days off. Again, slight peeling, but no removal of the callous. So, I used the third pad. This time, I waited the two days, and after that, I took a file to the callous and noticed a lot of flaking. After that, I used the fourth and last pad, two days on, two days off. This time, after taking it off, I soaked my foot, then took a safety razor remover to it. I was a little nervous so I scraped slowly. As I did this, it seemed to literally peel off like potato skin. I kept going until I couldn't peel any more. I totally removed the callous to the point where I could see the split. Went back to the podiatrist and was told the split should heal on its own as long as I don't do anything too crazy like run and stuff.
Close to 5 years of dealing with this issue and it was fixed in a little over 2 weeks. Talk about relief. I'm thinking about celebrating at Applebee's for the achievement. Nothing wrong with cheap margaritas.
I will strees, removing the cushion is a bit of a hassel is you aren't that flexible, but not overtly difficult. And a bit of the active pad did snake its way into the split on the callous, that I had to take a swab with alcohol to get it out.
But overall, it worked. Ibdont normally leave reviews on things because there's really nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. But this is more of a "THANK YOU" than a review. The last time I felt this much relief was when I got a chance to use a real bathroom after 10 months on a ship at sea. It's the little things that make you appreciate stuff ya know.
BUT I needed to ALSO use some ADDITIONAL products.
Here were my STEPS:
1) Firstly:
Understand that the active ingredient in the product is the small brown discs which contain salycic acid. One of these disks need to be attached directly over the callus.
THEN I attached the larger clear plastic-like item over that.
2) Secondly:
I had to use SURGICAL TAPE (available in drug stores and via Amazon) to firmly secure the entire product such that everything would be AIR TIGHT. The surgical tape that I used and acquired from Amazon was: 3M 30707387065950 Transpore Surgical Tape, 1" x 10 yd., Clear (Pack of 12). Visit the 3M Store. 4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars.
The surgical tape not only insures that the product will stay in place, but also that the callus will get filled with moisture because everything is air tight.
3) Thirdly:
I followed the advice of another reviewer by using a wet pumice stone (available in drug stores and via Amazon) to abrade down the callus when I removed the bandage only 48 hours later.
SUCCESS ! All the above steps enabled me to remove the large callus within only 48 hours!
P.S.
But for my condition, if it were to happen again, I would purchase a DIFFERENT product instead of this one. I would purchase from Amazon:
Corn Removers for Feet & Toes with Salicylic Acid, Corn Removers for Toes Pads, Foot Corn Remover & Callous Remover, 24 PackCorn Removers for Feet & Toes with Salicylic Acid, Corn Removers for Toes Pads, Foot Corn Remover & Callous Remover, 24 Pack. $16.99.
But both the reviewed product, and this different product contain the active ingredient of salycic acid found in the small brown discs.

The material is very strong and so is quality of adhesive. After use it is very easy to remove as well.
It is very comfortable to walk even barefoot while wearing these caps.
