Love this set.  My 10 year wanted to learn to play, so we got this.  It was so inexpensive, yet absolutely perfect.  Great starter set!!!

I am giving this a five star rating because, for the low price, it is an excellent starter chess board. I compared many others, before making this purchase and I'm very satisfied with my choice. The board is a good size 16"x 16" square, which is much larger than some other more expensive boards. The chess pieces are a very good size and weight, considering they are plastic. It comes with a sheet of easy to read, simple instructions, to play. I purchased this board to replace one I lost and to relearn the game. I am very happy with this chess set and would buy it again.

Great Chess Set for the Price

You get lots  of bang for the buck with this Pressman chess set. For under $10 you will be hard-pressed to find a better quality beginner chess set. The board is 16 inches, so the squares are just under 2 inches each - plenty of room to maneuver the pieces. The board in the picture is a bit different from the actual board I received which does not have the Pressman logo on a square. Also, the actual light squares look more like light wood grain than the white squares in the photo. The board is better looking than the photo shows. It is coated and heavy duty board-game material so that it will remain durable.  The king is just over 2 1/2 inches tall, and I was pleasantly surprised by the solid plastic pieces. The knight has pretty nice detail for an inexpensive set. Although the bottoms of the pieces are not felted, they are very smooth. I liked this set so much that I purchased two for a school chess club.

Lots of bang for the buck!

I don't have much of a sample size to compare this to, but for what I wanted this works perfectly at a very cheap price. The pieces are decent enough quality and so is the board.

Good quality board ; Chess pieces not too small and have nice weight which I was looking for.

Good value , happy with the product

Pieces are solid but a tad rough around the edges.  Board is cardboard but decent.  Good enough for a casual game every now and then.  If you are a serious player, probably invest in a better set.  But this does the trick for the beginner or very casual player.  Better than other sets at this price point.

Is a regular chess set, with instructions. Like it.

This chess set is ok. The pieces are made of cheap plastic and a couple of them are not completely flat on the bottom. The board itself is ok. The box it all came in with is to be thrown away after. But you can play a decent game, no all bad. You get what you pay for.
