The box should fit in the car; no truck needed.

Box will definitely fit in the back of a stationwagon. The bookshelf comes unassembled and in half.. Box is about 3ft long maybe.

The box is only about a foot wide by 3 feet probably. This would fit in anyone's trunk. The pieces sit on top of each other making it the 72 inches.

Yes, I could fit it in my Corolla fine. It is about 12x12 inches square and 3-4 ft long. Pretty heavy though.

the box it came in is about 3 feet long by one foot wide by 10 inches deep. it fit in my trunk with room to spare. should be no problem for a station wagon

If they have extras, I don't see why not-there is plenty of space.

I now have an answer to my own question. I called the manufacturer. They said that the only way I could get shelves from them is that if one was missing or damaged in the carton. They will not sell extras. My guess is they are worried about liability issues. I found a similar shelf unit from Sauder. They will sell extra shelves.

Sure. Building supply houses sell shelving stock - white melamine. I just used what I had and painted it, then went to building supply to get extra pegs. Easy!

The unit has many, many dowel holes on each side for shelf location....I see no reason why Sauder wouldn't sell/ship additional shelves & support dowels. If not, have one cut to size at local Home Depot/Lowes type store & use generic dowels. Should work well.

Not that I found but you could easily make one and install. Plenty of room for one more shelf.

I bought a shelf at Lowe's for $5 and the pins for 60 cents. It had to be cut off 1/2"

Its not for books, just for pictures and some small stuff, its not stable. One shelf come in two small  shelfs

This unit has 5 shelves (including the bottom one). When assembled, 2 shelves should be stationary, to provide stability. The other 3 are adjustable. (stated in product description) Meaning, you may be able to put them where you want during assembly.

One of the shelves is permanent and is used as the piece connecting the tops and bottoms of the sides. Once assembled there are actually five shelves (including the bottom of the bookcase) on which books can be placed.

There are three adjustable shelves and one fixed, so there are four total shelves.

There are 4 shelves. One of them is in the very middle though and acts as a support between the top half and lower half. They don't call it a shelf on the packing list but it is one.
