There is an HDMI 1.4 port that will do 1080 at 120hz, an HDMI 2.0 port that will do 1080 at 144hz, and a Display Port that will do 1080 144hz. The monitor comes with a Display Port cable.
Upon powering the monitor on, it will be in 60hz. This needs to be changed in the Windows 10 settings. Under the resolution settings are Advance Display Adapter settings, that's where you change it to 144hz. If you attempt to change it elsewhere, it likely won't take. If your on screen text is even a bit fuzzy, you probably are still in 60hz mode and don't realize it. I changed mine in the AMD control panel, but it didn't actually change until I went into the Windows settings and changed it to 144hz there.
FreeSync works very well. I believe the range is 49hz to 144hz. I use AMD Chill to keep my range between 70 and 144. All VSync is turned off so that FreeSync can operate unimpeded. If you're contantly above 144, which is unlikely on AMD hardware, then you may want to try Adaptive VSync. FreeSync also needs to be enabled in the monitor menu.
OverDrive is supposed to give you better pixel response. I did not find this worth it, the small loss in color depth wasn't worth the slightly faster response time.
The monitor also has advance calibration settings, gamma, red, blue, green, yellow, cyan, and magenta. I found the default to be slightly greenish blue, I lowered each of those a couple of ticks. I also lowered gamma from 2.2 to 2.4 just to get a little more depth on the black levels. Just to note, 2.2 was spot on in my testing, I just prefer the slightly darker shade of black. There is a movie mode that has deep blacks and super saturated, while it looks good, the shadows are crushed in games making it difficult to spot enemies. I found the FPS pre-set to be pretty good.
The speakers are awful, not even worth mentioning. I also enjoy the curve monitor. My previous is a 27 inch flat and I always felt like I was sitting too close for the size. 24 inch on a desk is much more comfortable.
Very good monitor for the price, 144hz is immediately noticeable, I cannot believe I went this long without it. I would recommend this monitor.
My hardware is a Ryzen CPU with an AMD rx 580.
In terms of build quality, out of the box it seems great. It includes a metal stand with no height adjustment. It is also mountable on a wall using a certain vesa mount measurement. The curve on the screen is so subtle that it doesn't make a difference to me. This can be good or bad depending on your preference. To me it feels kind of nice as it seems like the monitor is enclosing around you a little bit. The monitor is tiltable fordward and backward, though not much. It even came with a magnetic screwdriver, which was a nice touch.
Screen quality seems nice for the price. I haven't experienced the most premium gaming monitors or displays but this seems great. I'm sure in some cases it lacks in certain parts but for me its amazing. The monitor comes with adjustable settings that you can adjust using the buttons behind it. Nothing too crazy but includes most of the basics. It took a while for me to adjust the colors and brightness to my liking but with the help of NVIDIA Control Panel I got it. I don't know much about color accuracy or sRGB but I think you can definitely customize the display to your liking. Brightness for me isn't that much of a big deal as I actually play on a low brightness since my room is well-lit and is personally good for my eyes. I heard the brightness is quite low compared to other monitors/displays but I found it pretty bright. This comes with a VA panel and it looks great. The viewing angles are okay nothing too crazy but good enough.
Performance is great. The 144hz feels very smooth. You can even go 120hz if you prefer that more using the HDMI 1.4 Port or by changing your display settings. The monitor comes with a display port cable and you can use display port or HDMI 2.0 to get 144hz. 3 ms response rate feels fast enough. Well I can't really notice but I had no trouble while gaming. The monitor even has an overdrive mode and in some copies of the monitor you can even run 165hz. I was able to do this and it was working fine, though I just prefer 144hz.
Monitor design is sleek and simple. The bezels are thin and it looks great. The stand feels sturdy and doesn't wobble. There isn't any USB ports but there is an audio jack, HDMI 1.4 120hz, HDMI 2.0 144hz, and a display port. The power brick it comes with is a simple wall wart. Overall, if you are looking to start gaming on 144hz. This is probably the best budget gaming monitor you can find.
